Cantata Leadership
Pam Patterson, RN,
RAC-C
Chief Nursing Administrator
Pamela Patterson is Chief Nursing Administrator for Cantata
Adult Life Services. Drawing on 20 years of experience in
Gerontological Nursing, she leads a team of 96 professional and non
professional staff members who provide after-hospitalization rehab
services for orthopedic, cardiac, respiratory and stroke
patients.
Pamela joined The British Home in 1992 and has held numerous
nursing roles starting as a part-time relief nurse and moving
through the ranks to become Minimum Data Set Specialist (MDS),
Director of Staff Development and Education and eventually Chief
Nursing Administrator. Under Pamela's leadership, British
Home Rehabilitation Services moved to a predominately RN staff to
ensure the needs of clients who require sub-acute care are
met. More than 50% of the total nursing staff now holds a BSN
or Bachelor's Degree. She also spearheaded the move to
electronic medical records, making The British Home the first long
term care facility in Northern Illinois to do so.
As a nurse and educator, Pamela has worked to make British Home
Rehabilitation Services a clinical site. She created a strong
affiliation with the five surrounding colleges and universities so
every level of student, from those seeking a Certified Nursing
Assistant Degree to a Master's can benefit from The British Home's
clinical expertise.
"I believe in a holistic nursing practice
that encompasses the mind, body and spirit, and allows the nurse
and the client to work together so they can achieve the highest
possible form of wellness," said Pamela.
Previously, her career included medical-surgical nursing,
oncology nursing with a top Chicago area urology oncologist and
Children's Memorial Hospital Flight for Life pediatric
transports.
She is credentialed by the American Association of Nurse
Assessment Coordinators as a specialist in Medicare assessments; by
the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Rehabilitation Nurse;
and certified by the State of Illinois as an instructor in Nursing
Assistance. Pamela is also an adjunct professor in the
division of Health Sciences at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn,
Illinois.
Pamela earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Lewis
University, an Associate's Degree from Joliet Junior College and is
currently a Master's candidate at Regis University in Colorado.
